Southampton vs Man City LIVE score and goal updates as Torres and Sterling start and Aguero on bench

Manchester City are in Southampton to take on Ralph Hasenhuttl's in-form Saints, with Pep Guardiola's side looking to return to winning ways.

Manchester City hope to begin their Christmas fixture schedule with a win this afternoon, but it won't be easy against third-placed Southampton.

City were beaten at St Mary's in their last meeting towards the end of last season, and Southampton have started this season as they ended the last to climb to third in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola sees his City side in ninth place after two draws in their last two matches.

Guardiola might be without Sergio Aguero for the trip south after the striker missed two days of training after a 14-minute cameo against West Brom on Tuesday. Aguero returned to training on Friday to alleviate any fears of any long-term setback from his latest return from injury, but the Southampton game might come too soon for the Argentine.

After the trip to Southampton, City face Arsenal on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup, before Christmas fixtures against Newcastle and Everton, and a New Year trip to Chelsea.
