Manchester United Women aim to stretch their unbeaten streak to seven games in all competitions when they take on Aston Villa at home this Sunday.
Following consecutive 1-1 ties—against Brighton on the road and at home against Arsenal—Marc Skinner’s team is eager to get back to winning form. They will be facing a Villa team that has had a tough start to the season, earning only two points from their first six matches in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

WHAT'S THE LATEST ON THE TEAM?
The Reds received a significant uplift with the comeback of three players: Melvine Malard, Geyse, and Jayde Riviere. They all entered the match as substitutes against the Gunners last Sunday, marking our first game back after the international break.
Marc Skinner is expected to give an update on the players during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
In the meantime, Aston Villa will be bringing left-back Paula Tomas back into the team after she has finished serving a three-match suspension due to the red card she received in the game against Brighton.
Former United midfielder Lucy Staniforth returned from a knee injury, coming off the bench during their 2-1 loss at home to Liverpool last weekend.
It’s uncertain whether Jill Baijings, Rachel Corsie, Anna Leat, and Georgia Mullett will be back from their injuries in time to participate. Meanwhile, Sofie Lundgaard and Faye Kirby are still out due to serious knee injuries.
United have a solid track record against the Villans, having emerged victorious in 10 out of their last 12 encounters, and they remain unbeaten in those matchups.
The matches between the two teams last season were closely contested, with the Reds emerging victorious in both league encounters with a score of 2-1.
Nikita Parris scored two goals for us in the first half at Leigh, but Rachel Daly managed to bring us one step closer with a penalty in the second half.
The undefeated Reds head into the weekend at fourth place in the WSL standings, with three victories and two draws from our five matches up to this point.
Skinner's team is currently two points behind Brighton, who are in third place, and five points behind Manchester City, the leaders. However, both Brighton and Manchester City have played one more match than us.
In their previous match, Malard scored a last-minute goal that secured a draw against Arsenal, marking a significant day for the Reds. Millie Turner celebrated her 150th appearance for the club, Skinner reached his milestone of 100 games as manager, and an impressive crowd of 8,348 fans attended the women's match at Leigh Sports Village, setting a new attendance record for the team.
On the other hand, our rivals are still looking for their first victory in the league with coach Robert de Pauw. They have managed to secure just two points so far, both from draws at home against Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.
The Villans have been defeated in all three of their away matches in the league, the latest being a close 2-1 loss to league leaders City in their last game before the international break. This match saw Gabi Nunes score her first goal in the Women's Super League.
De Pauw's team, currently in 10th place, is one of three squads that have yet to secure a victory this season, joining West Ham United and Everton in that unfortunate category.
A complete schedule of league matches is taking place around the weekend. Here’s the entire lineup...
