Manchester City secured their fifth consecutive win in the Women’s Super League with an easy 3-0 triumph against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Jess Park kicked off the scoring in the 40th minute with an impressive shot, launching the ball into the top-left corner from 25 yards away. Just five minutes into the second half, Jill Roord extended the lead for the visitors with a well-placed low shot.
Katie Stengel was the closest to scoring for the new teams in the league this season, hitting the inside of the near post during the second half of a match that attracted 2,775 spectators to the Eagles' main stadium.
Park then played the role of provider, assisting Khadija Shaw, who headed in City's third goal in the 73rd minute. They managed to maintain control of the game and secured their position at the top of the table.
In the early match on Sunday, Manchester United's substitute Melvine Malard scored a last-minute equalizer in the 83rd minute, allowing her team to secure a 1-1 draw against Arsenal. The Gunners had taken the lead with a goal from former United player Alessia Russo in a captivating game.
Despite facing a frosty welcome from the local supporters, Russo created several promising opportunities before finally scoring a well-placed goal in the 63rd minute, as Arsenal asserted their control over the match.
United had a hard time posing a threat to the Gunners' goal until Malard managed to get a touch on Rachel Williams’s header from a corner kick, guiding it past Daphne Van Domselaar and into the back of the net.
In another match, Brighton continued their strong performance this season with a 1-0 victory over Leicester at home, thanks to a goal from England forward Nikita Parris. Meanwhile, an own goal by Camila Saez in injury time secured a 2-1 win for Tottenham against West Ham.
Aston Villa is still looking for their first league win of the season after Taylor Hinds scored twice in the first half, leading Liverpool to a 2-1 win. In another match, Everton faced a heavy defeat, losing 5-0 to a dominant Chelsea team that has kept up their flawless start to the WSL under coach Sonia Bompastor.
