Real Mallorca v Barcelona live – league leaders look to bounce back after weekend reverse
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal: The Key to Barcelona's Five-Goal Triumph
Ferran Torres, Raphinha – who netted a brace – Frenkie de Jong, and Pau Victor all found the back of the net as Barcelona dominated Mallorca, securing their first victory in four matches. They sit at the top of the league, four points ahead, but Real Madrid, in second place, still have two games to play. Mallorca, despite the loss, put in a strong performance and remain in sixth position.
Barcelona got off to a strong start, dominating the ball and generating opportunities. So, it wasn’t unexpected when they scored first, thanks to a defensive blunder from Mallorca. Johan Mojica accidentally kicked the ball into Antonio Riallo, which gave Ferran Torres the chance to score despite mishitting the ball.
Mallorca, however, remained undeterred as they controlled the latter part of the first half. They managed to equalize when Pablo Maffeo set up the returning Vedad Muriqi, who scored by sliding the ball in from a short distance. Despite appeals from Barcelona and Hansi Flick for an offside call, the referee and VAR found no violations.
The match stayed balanced after the break, but on the 56th minute, an outstanding move by Dani Olmo allowed Lamine Yamal to break through. When Antonio Mojica fouled him, Raphinha confidently converted the penalty kick.
This prompted Mallorca to push further up the field and increase their attacking presence, which worked in favor of Barcelona. A beautiful cross from Lamine set Raphinha up to secure the victory, and late goals from substitutes De Jong and Victor added a shine to the scoreline that didn't truly reflect how either team played.
