M6 crash: two children among five people killed in Cumbria
A tragic car accident on the M6 in Cumbria has resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including two young children.
According to Cumbria police, the event occurred on the northbound lane close to Tebay services on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities received reports of the collision, which involved a Skoda and a Toyota, at 4:04 PM.
A man, a woman, and their two children from Glasgow were in the Toyota and were declared dead at the location of the accident. Another child from the Toyota was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with significant injuries.
The driver of the Skoda, a man hailing from Cambridgeshire, was also declared dead at the location of the incident.
Authorities announced that the highway was shut down between junctions 36 and 39, but it was reopened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Great North Air Ambulance, the North-West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire and Rescue, and volunteer doctors from the Beep Doctors organization also responded to the accident.
The police have stated that specially trained officers are providing support to the families of those affected.
