Glasgow Wagamama chef killed in 'wrong way' M6 crash
Jaroslaw Rossa tragically lost his life in an accident on the M6 in Cumbria on Tuesday.
A chef from Glasgow was among the victims of a collision on the M6 in Cumbria. Authorities believe that the accident might have involved a vehicle that was going the wrong way.
Jaroslaw Rossa, 42, was declared dead at the location close to Tebay services on Tuesday. He was with a 33-year-old woman and two boys, aged 15 and seven.
All of them were originally from Glasgow and were driving along the motorway in a Toyota. A 40-year-old man from Cambridgeshire, who was behind the wheel of a Skoda, also lost his life.
Wagamama's CEO Thomas Heier expressed that Mr. Rossa's coworkers at the Silverburn shopping center were deeply saddened and remembered him as a beloved chef and friend.
Cumbria Police stated that they responded to reports of a vehicle moving in the opposite direction.
The accident took place on the northbound lanes on Tuesday at 4:04 PM.
Cumbria Police mentioned that they received calls about a Skoda heading south on the northbound side of the road.
A seven-year-old boy, who was riding in the Toyota, was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle due to serious injuries.
Although the police have not officially confirmed Mr. Rossa's identity, his employer has issued a statement honoring him and acknowledging the significant impact he made during his eight years at Wagamama Silverburn.
Mr. Heier stated that Mr. Rossa had built "memorable connections with both the team and the guests who had the opportunity to meet him."
He remarked, "Jaroslaw's warmth, commitment, and generosity are qualities that will remain with the team well beyond his departure."
We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, who he cared for deeply.
"Jaroslaw, you will always hold a special place in our hearts and thoughts."
Witnesses reported to BBC News that they were caught in standstill traffic close to the accident for over three hours and could clearly see black smoke and fire.
The highway was closed between junctions 36 and 39 but was completely reopened in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred on the M6 Northbound, just north of the Tebay services area.
The Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service reported that they dispatched four fire trucks from Penrith, Kendal, and Shap, and stayed at the accident site for several hours.
In addition to the Great North Air Ambulance, the North West Ambulance Service and volunteer Beep Doctors were also present.
The police are asking anyone who saw what happened or has any information to step forward and share what they know.
