M25: All lanes open after extensive lorry fire clean-up operation

M25

All lanes of the M25 are now open again following the removal of debris and damage caused by a lorry fire.

Video from a dashcam captured the moment a Tesco delivery truck caught fire following an accident on Sunday night. Fortunately, the driver managed to get out with just a few minor injuries.

Drivers experienced delays lasting over 24 hours because the road was closed in the clockwise direction between junction five close to Sevenoaks and junction six near Godstone in Surrey.

National Highways has reported that the area is now clear just before the morning rush hour.

Emergency responders worked for 10 hours at the location of the accident, which occurred between the Clacket Lane service area and junction six.

Anthony Moc, who was traveling behind the truck when it went off, remarked, "I assumed it was just an ordinary journey back home."

The sudden explosion of the truck really took me by surprise; I certainly didn't anticipate it happening so quickly.

"I had to hit the brakes and steer into the second and third lanes. I'm really quite shaken up."

Traffic issues worsened after another event on the M26 caused major congestion along the detour route.
