Drivers are advised to pay attention to detour signs to steer clear of ULEZ fees during the weekend closures of three junctions on the M25.

There will be road closures on the weekends of October 4, October 18, and November 1. During these times, drivers will not be able to access slip roads to get on or off the M25 or the A3 at junction 10.

According to National Highways, the roads will shut down at 9:00 PM BST on Friday evenings and will reopen by 6:00 AM on Monday.

A representative commented, "Even though the Ultra Low Emission Zone in London will still be active during these closures, the proposed detour routes have been created so that drivers can steer clear of any fees."

Drivers are advised to take the marked detour or visit the Transport for London website to see if their vehicle might incur any fees.

National Highways has provided seven alternative routes for the weekends when both the M25 and A3 will stay operational.

Out of the seven, two of them travel along the A243, which runs by Chessington World of Adventures, and falls within the designated area.

In August 2023, the ULEZ was extended to include all boroughs of London. Typically, drivers with vehicles that don't meet the required standards must pay a daily fee of £12.50 when they drive within ULEZ boundaries.

In August 2023, the ULEZ was extended to include all boroughs in London.

The BBC has requested clarification from Transport for London regarding how they will oversee drivers taking the diversion, as well as how they will handle vehicles that do not meet the necessary requirements and go through without being charged.

The shutdowns are part of a three-year project costing £317 million aimed at improving the intersections.

So far in 2024, there have been three complete weekend shutdowns of the motorway, and additional closures are planned for 2025.

National Highways reported that junction 10 is the most heavily trafficked part of the M25, with over 300,000 vehicles travelling through it each day.
