M25 closures

M25 closed for repairs

Motorists are being warned to expect major disruption as a series of closures are planned for the M25. Highways England has announced that scheduled repairs to the busy orbital motorway will mean various sections of the road will be shut over the coming months, with the first closure starting on Monday night.

The initial work will take place between junctions 5 and 7 and is expected to last for four nights. The road will be closed in both directions between the hours of 10pm and 5.30am to allow for resurfacing and maintenance work to be carried out. Drivers are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for their travels, or else take an alternative route to avoid the delays.

Alternative routes for drivers

For those who cannot avoid using the M25, alternative routes will be signposted along the A20 and A21. Highways England has also suggested that drivers use the M3 and M4 as an alternative route, and advised anyone using the M25 to check the latest travel updates before setting off. Further closures are planned for later in the year, with Highways England warning that the works are essential for ensuring the long-term safety and integrity of the motorway.

The planned closures have been met with frustration from many drivers, who have expressed concerns over the potential impact on local traffic congestion and journey times. However, Highways England has stressed that the works are necessary and urged drivers to plan ahead and take alternative routes where possible.
