Luke Littler silences boo boys to win Premier League darts final in Liverpool
Luke Littler shut up the crowd that was booing him by achieving a great win in the Premier League while playing in Liverpool.
The 17-year-old had to endure insults from the audience at the M&S Bank Arena. However, he managed to surprise the audience and gain their approval by beating Rob Cross 6-2 in the final. Despite the unfriendly spectators, they couldn't help but respect his performance.
Ever since he became noticeable at the World Championship during the holiday season, the 17-year-old has gained a considerable number of fans. However, his behavior on social media platforms has not been accepted positively in the Merseyside region.
Littler is a passionate supporter of Manchester United and has taken pleasure in teasing fierce competitors Liverpool in the past few weeks as their hopes of winning four titles have collapsed.
Even though he hails from the close by town of Warrington, the audience booed him onto the stage in unparalleled fashion. However, he displayed great sportsmanship by taking it in stride. He even referenced the outcome of the Merseyside derby from the previous evening before going on to triumph over Gerwyn Price in the quarter-final.
Littler, who has become more confident in his performance as he adapts to being in the public eye, was interacting with supporters while playing against Nathan Aspinall in the semi-finals. This seemed to motivate him as he won four consecutive legs, which turned the initial score of 5-2 in Aspinall's favor into a 6-5 victory for Littler. Despite being faced with five match darts, he managed to come out on top.
When he faced Cross in the final, the spectators had calmed down, seemingly amazed by an outstanding display.
He started the game strong by hitting a 111 point shot and easily won with an amazing 105 point average.
Littler has secured his fifth win in just 13 nights, which has resulted in him regaining the top spot on the Premier League table. This phenomenal achievement has placed him in close proximity to securing his place at the four-man playoffs held at the O2 in London. It's remarkable that Littler managed to achieve this feat during such a crucial event.
"I had a feeling about what was going to happen this week. I had been preparing for it, and I always connect with the audience. During the semi-final, I played without any constraints or inhibitions," he stated.
I felt at ease and confident in my abilities. Despite anticipating difficulties, I remained determined to emerge victorious. Although I encountered some challenges, I maintained composure and emerged triumphant in all of my matches.
"I was engaging in harmless teasing, aware of the situation and what the outcome would be. I anticipated that the experience would be unlike any other, but nevertheless, I was content with the evening's events. Overall, I believe I emerged as the victor."
