During his first European Tour victory in Belgium on Sunday, a competitor challenged Luke Littler on stage and accused him of exhibiting "arrogance." Littler, who is 17 years old, experienced this confrontation.
Littler achieved a fantastic nine-darter when he triumphed over Rob Cross in the Belgian Open held in Wieze. Nonetheless, the celebration of his victory was marred by unattractive incidents that ensued after he won against Ricardo Pietreczko in the semi-finals.
The finalist of the World Championship emerged victorious over Pietreczko by a score of 7-4. However, things got intense when the German player, Littler, confronted him on stage during the handshake. The two exchanged words in a tense moment.
Pietreczko, aged 29, moved closer to Littler who seemed surprised by the altercation.
In a post on Instagram, Pietreczko later expressed admiration for the game played by the young individual. However, he added that he hoped their arrogant behavior would result in consequences.
Littler replied on Twitter by expressing confusion, stating that they were unaware of their mistake and did not understand the criticism received. However, they promised to avoid any future errors.
Littler emerged victorious over former world champion Cross after a closely fought match that saw them both exchange the lead multiple times. The teenager managed to hit six maximums, with one of them being a perfect leg, allowing him to pull ahead of his opponent with a score of 6-4.
Littler, who managed to score a perfect nine-dart finish during his first appearance in the World Series, expressed his relief after the game, stating: "I'm simply pleased to have crossed the finish line."
I managed to score the ninth point but unfortunately lost the following two rounds. Nevertheless, I am relieved to have won in the end. It's always satisfying to participate in an exciting match.
As Rob just mentioned, I have a positive impact on him and he appreciates that. As a result, we motivate each other to give our all until the very end.
Even though they lost, Cross spoke highly of Littler by saying he is a determined individual who always strives for better.
This adolescent has an outstanding path ahead of him. The perfect execution of the nine-darter was outstanding and extraordinary. This lad is extraordinary.
