A new presenter hosted today's episode of A Place in the Sun.

John and Debbie were house hunting for their own slice of paradise around the Mar Menor on the Costa Calida in south-east Spain. Property expert Lucy Alexander stepped in to show them five homes, catering to their budget of £80,000.

The couple dreamed of owning a two-bedroomed holiday home, close to the beach. But as the presenter was asking the buyers about their hopes and dreams, fans on Twitter were distracted and thought they had tuned in to the wrong show.

Normally, host Lucy starred on the BBC One property show Homes Under the Hammer. Fans were shocked to see her on Channel 4 finding homes in the sun instead.

One user said: "What's Lucy wotsit doing on here?#aplaceinthesun" Another user added: "Is this an old repeat? Surprised to see Lucy Alexander. #aplaceinthesun."

A third said: "Eh, what. Checks schedules.... is it Homes under the hammer? #aplaceinthesun". Miranda said: "Did she used to be on Homes Under the Hammer? #aplaceinthesun."

The former Homes Under The Hammer star is known for appearing alongside co-presenter Martin Roberts. However, after 13 years at the helm she decided to quit the BBC show back in 2016.

Speaking about landing a role on A Place in the Sun, Lucy told The Express: "Obviously that was a dream job for me because of property developing, doing up houses and talking to people about homes. It's just everything I love. And my other love is holidays."
