Lorraine Kelly was left baffled when she was refused access to her own TV program.
The 64-year-old host was prevented from joining the live broadcast by Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh, who had arrived to lead the morning talk show, even though Kelly was supposed to be the one in charge.
While driving to the studio, Kelly shared that she was completely unaware of what was going on with her show. She mentioned that the producers hadn't provided her with any background information or informed her about who would be joining her as guests.
In a video posted on Instagram, Kelly shared that the whole situation was “a huge surprise as I approach my 40 years in breakfast television.” She expressed her excitement about finding out “what my team has planned for me.”
Before the special anniversary event, Singh mentioned to Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, "We've kept Lorraine out of her own studio, and she'll definitely have her revenge on us one day."
The unexpected "hijacked" episode was the first occasion where Singh, Lampard, and Kelly all hosted Lorraine at the same time.
"This is legendary!" exclaimed one enthusiastic supporter. At the same time, another chimed in humorously, saying, "Considering Christine and Ranvir are the hosts, I’m quite shocked she actually showed up today."
Kelly will be celebrated for her extensive career in a new ITV documentary titled "Lorraine Kelly: 40 Unforgettable Years." The film will include vintage clips of the Scottish host’s early shows, along with interviews featuring colleagues who have worked with her throughout the years.
At the age of 64, she started her journey in journalism with the East Kilbride News. She chose to forgo her opportunity to attend university and study English and Russian in order to work at the newspaper. In 1983, she moved on to BBC Scotland, where she took on the role of researcher.
In 1984, she started working at TV-am as a reporter focused on Scottish news. By 1990, she began her journey as a presenter on Good Morning Britain, and in 2010, she launched her own program, Lorraine.

"You don't just show up on screen and go unnoticed; you really make an impact," Reid complimented the host on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, October 2nd.
"Kelly mentioned that her interview style is used when necessary, but not constantly. She expressed how wonderful it is to be on a show that allows her this flexibility, stating it feels like a real privilege."
In another part of the show, the Scottish broadcaster expressed that she initially believed nothing could be worse than covering the Lockerbie bombing. However, her perspective changed after she reported on the Dunblane massacre.
"I believed that after experiencing the Lockerbie tragedy, which was the most horrific act of terrorism ever in Europe, nothing could possibly compare to that," she reflected.
"Then the tragedy in Dunblane occurred, and since Rosie was around two years old at that time, I believe it affected everyone deeply. However, as a parent, it was especially painful."
Lorraine Kelly: 40 Memorable Years will be broadcast on ITV1 at 9 PM.
