Liverpool achieved a solid 2-0 victory against Bologna at Anfield, maintaining their perfect record in the 2024/25 Champions League campaign.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring early in the match, netting a goal just 11 minutes in, and Mohamed Salah contributed another goal in the second half, securing a decisive victory over Bologna.
The Reds kicked off their European journey in style, comfortably defeating AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro. This match is expected to be one of their toughest challenges in the new league stage of the tournament.
Nevertheless, as teams like Real Madrid and German titleholders Bayer Leverkusen are on the horizon, Arne Slot has already achieved an important victory by earning three points during his inaugural European match at Anfield.
Bologna has seen a change in management and lost several important players since they qualified for the tournament last season. They are now sitting in 13th position in Serie A with only seven points. In their first Champions League match, they ended in a 0-0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Stay tuned for the most recent preparations, team updates, and news below, along with reactions to the other Champions League games taking place tonight:
Alisson Looks Back On Liverpool's Victory
On his birthday, Alisson spoke to TNT Sports, stating, "That's what I requested from the team during my speech. A great match against a really challenging opponent. They play fiercely and are a strong squad."
"We played well by controlling the game, scoring enough points to secure the win, and defending effectively to maintain a clean sheet."
About Mo Salah: "He’s a crucial player for our team. There are moments when it seems like he’s not making an impact, but then out of nowhere, he executes a flawless move and scores with a shot in the top corner. That’s what sets him apart; it’s his unique skill and ability."
"We're fortunate to have him on our side, but it's important to recognize the team's dedication and the areas where we can still improve. Nevertheless, we performed well enough to secure the victory."

Mac Allister's Post-Match Comments
Mac Allister told TNT Sports: “I’m feeling great personally, but more importantly for the team. Alisson made some fantastic saves. I believe we need to improve our defense a bit, but at least Ali demonstrated his skills. I’m pleased for him and for the whole team.”
Regarding his goal: “Honestly, it’s tough to miss from that position. A goal is still a goal. In this team, when we make a run, Mo [Salah] has a great vision and can spot everything. I’m really pleased for him; it was a great night for all of us.”
Regarding the ongoing adjustment to life under Arne Slot, one of the players mentioned: "It's obvious that we're in a period of change. We're excited about the new concepts and are working hard to adapt. There's definitely more to be done, which is why we put in a lot of effort every single day."
