Liverpool youth team walk off pitch twice in two days after alleged racist abuse at tournament in Germany

The younger players of Liverpool's team had to stop playing on two occasions within two days due to suspected racist comments towards one of their teammates during a youth tournament in Germany.

Following a situation that occurred during a game on Friday, the club's leadership group made the decision to halt the match. The team then exited the field as a group and promptly notified officials about the incident.

Liverpool confirmed that the same player was once again subjected to an incident at the competition on Saturday.

Once more, the coaching staff and management team decided to exit the field as a group following the prompt reporting of the incident.

Liverpool requested that the tournament organizers carry out an investigation.

Liverpool's Official Statement

Liverpool has announced that a player from our Under-18s team reported that he was subjected to racist remarks by an opponent during a match at the Bundesliga Cup youth tournament in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, last Friday.

The player quickly informed the referee, his fellow players, and our coaching team. As a result, Liverpool's coaching staff made the decision to halt the game and exit the field as a group.

In another occurrence, the player was once again subjected to mistreatment during a game in the tournament today. Once more, the player notified his teammates and coaches, and our management team decided to leave the field again.

We are happy about our player's quick response in reporting the incident and impressed by how maturely he handled the situation.

The Academy safeguarding team is providing support to him and any of his affected teammates.

The club is asking our competitors and the event organizers to quickly and carefully look into what happened.
