The young players from Liverpool's Under-19 team left the field during their match against Eintracht Frankfurt due to accusations of racist taunting.
According to a report from BILD, a player from the Under-19 team in Frankfurt is accused of using a racist slur to insult a player from Liverpool.
The young teams from Liverpool and Frankfurt were competing against each other in a tournament held in the city of Schwabisch Hall, Germany.
After the reported event, Liverpool decided to stop playing and left the field.
The match was stopped with the score tied at 1-1, and Frankfurt was given a 3-0 victory.
Liverpool's younger team left the game against Eintracht Frankfurt because they were reportedly subjected to racist remarks.
A member of Frankfurt's Under-19 team has been accused of using a racist word to insult a player from Liverpool.
Frankfurt's director of sports, Timmo Hardung, said that the player's words were misunderstood.
Hardung mentioned that the player used the informal term 'digga', which is used to refer to a friend or buddy.
Hardung informed BILD that our entire youth training center is similar to Eintracht Frankfurt, diverse, and we uphold distinct values that we adhere to and consistently uphold.
We do not tolerate racism, but we do investigate any claims of it with great concern.
Hardung stated that racism is not a factor in this situation.
He stated that after talking it over with our player, it was confirmed that he used the word 'digga', which is a common term in youth slang, during a regular game. We fully believe that this statement is accurate.
We dismiss racism as the cause and believe it is a matter of language. We trust that we have resolved any confusion with the players involved and the staff at Liverpool FC.
Mail Sport has reached out to Liverpool for a statement.
