Fabio Carvalho has officially joined Brentford in a five-year deal, with the possibility of extending for an additional year. This transfer sees him leave Liverpool for a new challenge in the Premier League.

The two teams reached an agreement where the transfer fee could go up to £27.5m with possible additional payments that are likely to be made. In addition, Liverpool has secured a 17.5 percent share of any future transfer fee for the player, who they originally signed for £5m from Fulham in 2022.

Fulham also included a clause in the previous sale of Carvalho that entitles them to receive 20 percent of the profits from his move, potentially earning them over £4m from the deal.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank spoke highly of Fabio's diverse skill set. He can excel in various offensive roles within different formations, such as 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. His strongest positions are likely as a no.10 or on the left side attacking.

In terms of attacking play, he possesses excellent skills with the ball: he can dribble past opponents, deliver precise passes, set up scoring opportunities, and finish chances himself. He brings a unique skill set to our team that will give us an added edge.

"He excels in his work ethic and handling pressure, in addition to meeting all the cultural expectations and demonstrating the ideal character. We are thrilled to have him join the team and help propel us forward."

Carvalho is now the second player to join Brentford during the summer transfer period. He joins striker Igor Thiago, who was signed for £30m but is currently injured with a knee problem.

The player from Portugal made three goals in 21 matches for Liverpool and was loaned out to RB Leipzig and Hull City for the previous season.
