Liverpool lost their first game with their new manager Arne Slot.

The new coach from the Netherlands signed a contract to work at Anfield for three years after taking over from Jurgen Klopp. He officially began his job as head coach on June 1st.

The new era at Anfield officially started last week with Slot and his coaching staff training a number of players as they came back from their vacations.

On Friday, Liverpool faced off against Championship team Preston in a private pre-season match at the AXA Training Centre, ramping up their preparations for the upcoming season.

The Reds lost 1-0, with Robbie Brady scoring the lone goal of the game from a faraway shot.

The Lilywhites claimed victory with a single goal difference at AXA Training Centre.

Slot used 25 players during the entire game, including several key players from the main team.

Slot had 25 players on the field during the entire 90-minute game, with several key players from the first team participating.

Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Mohamed Salah were some of the players who took the field in the opening half of the game.

Salah came close to scoring for Liverpool in the first 45 minutes when he hit the crossbar from close range after receiving a cross from Konstantinos Tsimikas.

As per Preston's official statement, Brady scored an amazing goal with a long shot from 40 yards away.

Slot made substitutions in the second half, bringing on many young players to play alongside experienced players like Wataru Endo and Stefan Bajcetic.

Even though Liverpool just began their pre-season with this match, Preston have already played three friendly games this summer after completing a training camp in Spain.

Harvey Elliott was one of the players who played in the first half.

Slot implemented new strategies during the second part of the game, with mostly young players entering the field.

Both teams have focused on improving their fitness levels in preparation for the upcoming match against Sheffield United on August 9th. The Lilywhites will be kicking off their season with this game.

Liverpool's initial televised game of their pre-season lineup is set for July 27th, as they go head-to-head against Real Betis during their tour of the United States.

Liverpool will also play against Arsenal and Manchester United, who are also from the Premier League, during the tour.
