Lincoln man charged with disorder after Liverpool protests

Liverpool

A person from Lincoln has been arrested along with three other individuals in relation to a disturbance in Liverpool city center that occurred over the weekend.

Lloyd Killner, a 35-year-old resident of Burton Road, was accused of participating in violent behavior following a police operation carried out by Merseyside Police.

Last Saturday, a crowd of approximately 1,500 individuals who had split from two different protests found themselves in a confrontation at the Pier Head in the city.

Mr. Killner has been placed in custody and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court at 9:45 AM British Summer Time today.

Three more men facing charges include Declan Geiran, aged 29 from Liverpool, accused of setting fire to a police vehicle and participating in violent disorder. Jimmy Bailey, aged 45 from Ellesmere Port, and Liam James Riley, aged 41 from Kirkdale, are both charged with participating in violent disorder.

The authorities in Merseyside reported that a group of individuals were involved in aggressive behavior towards officers on Stanley Street, throwing objects at police on Paradise Street, and trying to set a police vehicle ablaze on William Brown Street.

The police department reported that two officers were hurt and several nearby businesses were damaged and robbed.

In her remarks on Saturday, Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims expressed that the conduct witnessed during the rioting was "totally inappropriate".

She explained that what was supposed to be a bright and pleasant Saturday by the waterfront, where people of different ages could relax and enjoy themselves, instead became a chaotic and violent afternoon.

There have been stories about families needing to flee the area, with some of them bringing their kids to see the Disney Princess cruise ship that was parked close by.

She explained that her team had bravely placed themselves in dangerous situations to keep the community safe. She expressed how proud she was of their courage, strength, and professionalism.
