Liverpool FC & owners host grieving Southport families at Anfield
Liverpool FC invited two families who were mourning the loss of loved ones due to a tragic stabbing incident in Southport to attend the match against Brentford at Anfield.
The loved ones of Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice da Silva Aguiar, who tragically lost their lives in the stabbings that occurred in Southport on July 29, were invited as special guests of Liverpool FC to attend the match against Brentford.
Elsie and Alice, aged seven and nine, were tragically killed in a seemingly senseless attack during a children's dance class in Southport, a coastal town in northern Liverpool.
Six-year-old Bebe King passed away due to the injuries she suffered during the attack.
Prior to the exhibition match against Sevilla, Liverpool held a moment of silence to honor the victims. Following this, the wife of Liverpool's principal owner John Henry expressed that she is "encouraged" by the families affected.
Linda Pizzuti Henry, a part owner of FSG, penned:
I felt so moved by the strength and affection these families have discovered in the midst of their profound sorrow.
A family mentioned that their precious daughter was innocent and unaware of wickedness. They decided to channel their sorrow into improving their coastal community by creating a beautiful garden.
It has been amazing to witness the wider community and nation come together to support all the families affected by this tragedy.
Pizzuti Henry shared pictures on Instagram of herself, John Henry, and CEO Billy Hogan spending time with the families of Alice da Silva Aguiar and Elsie Dot Stancombe.
The day following the stabbings, ex-Reds players Robbie Fowler and Phil Thompson visited Hart Space studio, the site of the incident, to show their sympathy and solidarity with the club by placing a floral arrangement.
A lot of the kids who got hurt on July 29 were taken care of at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, which is a place where the athletes go to visit every Christmas.
