Briton Dies of Listeria Prompting Critical Product Recall

Listeriosis

An individual has passed away after being infected with listeria. To address this issue, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a prompt recall of the affected product.

Health experts alerted the public about the infection caused by contaminated cheese.

Many kinds of mild cheese produced by The Old Cheese Room, a company located in Wiltshire, have been withdrawn from the market due to concerns regarding possible contamination.

The brand is requesting its customers to bring back the soft cheeses, such as Baronet, Baby Baronet, and Mini Baronet, to the store.

The cheese packages that have been impacted by this issue include The Old Cheese Room Baronet, Mini & Baby Baronet SoftCheese in three different sizes: 1kg, 270g, and 200g. The best before dates that have been affected are 21st and 22nd of March 2023, 4th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 16th, and 18th of April 2023.

You can locate the optimal expiration date of the cheese on its rear side.

People are advised not to consume cheese products that have been recalled and should communicate with the seller where they purchased them.

A recommendation regarding health has been released after the fatality caused by listeria.

Tina Potter, who is the FSA Head of Incidents, has mentioned that it is necessary for individuals who can easily get affected by Listeria infection - this includes people who are pregnant and those with weak immune systems, to cautiously follow the product recall notices. These notices comprise a detailed list of all the products that may cause risk as a result of the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak.

We are also requesting individuals to ensure that their older family members, who may have bought the recalled products and are particularly vulnerable, are notified about the recall and follow the guidelines.

Certain types of food are more susceptible to containing listeria bacteria.

Some examples of foods that fall into this category are cheese with a smooth texture, meat spread, fish that has been smoked, cold cuts that have been sliced beforehand, and other ready-to-eat products that have been chilled.

The FSA and the UK Health and Security Agency have reported discovering three instances of listeria that may be related to an outbreak, one of which resulted in a person's passing.

There was no additional information given regarding the deceased individual.

According to The Old Cheese Room, the recall was done as a safety measure.

The message advised people not to ingest these goods and urged them to verify whether they acquired any of the impacted series codes.
