Linkin Park Reveals New Female Singer

American rock group Linkin Park has introduced a fresh vocalist, Emily Armstrong, who will be performing with them on their upcoming album and tour.

The frontman of the band, Chester Bennington, tragically ended his own life in 2017.

Armstrong is set to reunite with Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn for the band's upcoming endeavors.

Armstrong and Shinoda will both sing together, with Colin Brittain also joining the band as their new drummer.

The band shared the news about their new members in preparation for the release of their upcoming album "From Zero" and an upcoming global tour.

Armstrong was raised in Los Angeles and is most recognized as the vocalist in the alternative rock group Dead Sara. She helped create the band with guitarist Siouxsie Medley back in 2005.

During a conversation with Billboard, Amstrong remembered how Linkin Park's album Hybrid Theory from 2000 influenced her.

"I was part of a band when it was released," she remembered. "One Step Closer was the perfect song for me, and I thought, 'that's what I aspire to do. As a vocalist, I want to have the ability to belt out'."

I absolutely love that album - I've listened to it so many times. I would listen to it while skating and while moshing.

During a time when individual musicians are the norm, Linkin Park stands out as one of the top bands thriving in the era of streaming.

They are the only musical group to be included in Spotify's list of the top 10 most-streamed albums ever. Their popular album, Papercuts, gets more than 9 million streams every day.

The group revealed their latest band members, just in time for their upcoming album release and global tour.

Linkin Park is not the only band that has chosen a new lead singer after their original frontman passed away. Bands like Alice in Chains and Sublime have also made similar decisions in the past.

One important point to mention is that Queen has frequently gone on tour with Adam Lambert as their singer in the past few years, after Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991.

In the meantime, Brittain will take over as the band's new drummer, replacing Rob Bourdon.

In an interview with Billboard, Shinoda discussed how Rob had expressed his desire to take a step back from the band a few years ago.

"We realized it was clear. He began to appear less frequently, communicate less often, and I am sure his followers noticed it as well."

For me, as a friend, it was really heartbreaking to see that happen. But at the same time, I just want him to do whatever brings him joy, and of course, everyone hopes for the best for him.

The lead singer of Linkin Park before passed away in 2017.

Brittain has experience working with rock bands Papa Roach and All Time Low in the past.

The new global tour of the band will stop in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, Seoul, and London this month, and Bogotá in November.

The upcoming tour will mark their first live shows since Bennington passed away in 2017 at the age of 41.

The band's upcoming album will be introduced by a new song called The Emptiness Machine. This will be the first music released by the band since Bennington passed away.

The band played the song during a one-hour concert that was live-streamed on the band's social media channels on Thursday, marking the official debut of their new lineup.
