Caution: This post contains spoilers for Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer.

The Lincoln Lawyer made its comeback on October 17 with a fresh season. If you've already watched all 10 episodes of this captivating legal drama, you're likely curious about what happens next for Mickey Haller after the surprising cliffhanger at the end of Season 3.

In the upcoming third season, which draws inspiration from Michael Connelly's fifth novel in The Lincoln Lawyer series titled "The Gods of Guilt," Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as Mickey Haller, the defense attorney from Los Angeles. This season, Haller delves into the mystery surrounding the death of his past client and friend, Gloria "Glory Days" Dayton.

Mickey soon finds himself in the crosshairs of people intent on hiding the identity of Glory's murderer. His house is invaded, and a dangerous incident on the road results in the unfortunate death of his driver, Eddie. Mickey suspects that Hector Moya, a drug dealer he and Glory Days had previously incarcerated, could be behind these attacks. However, Moya points the finger at DEA agent James De Marco, suggesting he might have something to do with the situation.

In the course of the trial, Mickey’s client Julian, wrongfully accused of murdering Glory Days, is assaulted while in prison and needs to be hospitalized. Mickey works hard to bring in former APD detective Neil Bishop as a witness after discovering that Bishop had been monitoring Glory prior to her death. Eventually, Cisco manages to locate video evidence of Bishop and DEA agent De Marco entering Glory’s residence on the day she was murdered.

During his testimony, Bishop reveals that De Marco murdered Glory Days to hide his criminal actions connected to Moya's arrest. After making this shocking confession, he suddenly pulls a gun from his sock and takes his own life.

De Marco escapes from the country, and not long after, Mickey and his team come across a photo of a corpse dangling from a bridge. They think it belongs to De Marco, likely a victim of the drug cartel.

Thankfully, Julian makes it through this entire situation, and with the real culprit revealed, all the accusations against him are cleared. Mickey also advocates for Julian to get a significant compensation for everything he endured.

In the final episode of Season 3, Mickey is driving his convertible away from a restaurant when a police officer signals for him to pull over. Confused, Mickey asks the officer what the issue is, and the cop points out that his license plate is absent. That's when Mickey gets out of his car.

The officer notices what looks like blood leaking from the car and orders Mickey to unlock the trunk. When Mickey declines, he is arrested. Once the trunk is opened, the police find the body of Sam Scales, a past client of both Mickey and Lorna, inside.

Netflix has not yet announced a fourth season for The Lincoln Lawyer. The streaming service is expected to hold off on making a renewal decision until it assesses the performance of Season 3, similar to how it approached the renewal of the third season after the release of Season 2.

The creators of the series, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, recently discussed with TV Insider what the future holds for Mickey.

"We're often preparing for what's coming next in the season. While this particular story won't directly lead into the next case, it will certainly pave the way for the next book," Rodriguez explained. Humphrey chimed in, "I believe we can confidently say that this season will really push us forward in a thrilling and personal way heading into Season 4."

The exciting update is that the creators of the show are feeling positive about its future. They have shown interest in adapting all of the books from Michael Connelly’s series, and Rodriguez hinted that they might consider including even more books beyond that in the series.

Humphrey shared that Michael has suggested he might be writing another Lincoln Lawyer book in addition to the ones that are already out. “We can’t say for certain, but if he is, we’re really excited to see it. We have ideas in place for adapting all the books.” However, they both emphasize that the decision ultimately lies with the fans. “If the audience continues to enjoy our work, we'll keep producing the show.”

Humphrey added that they also have ideas for where the story could go in a possible Season 5 and even Season 6 afterwards.

In response to the surprising cliffhanger at the conclusion of the third season, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo mentioned to Today.com that Mickey has "wonderful supporters who can assist him" if he ends up facing a trial.

"I believe Lorna and him would be an ideal duo to have his back," he remarked. He also brought up Mickey's first wife, Maggie, and noted, "Even Andy... he has some solid people around him."

The first three seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer are now available to watch on Netflix.
