Chicago rapper Lil Durk has been taken into custody in South Florida and faces charges related to an alleged scheme involving a contract killing.

The 32-year-old musician, whose real name is Durk Banks, is well-recognized for establishing the Chicago hip-hop collective OTF (Only The Family) and for his successful solo music career.

According to the Sheriff’s records, he is currently in custody at the Broward County Jail and is not eligible for bail.

Durk's recent arrest follows the federal charges against five other Chicago rappers who are said to have connections to OTF. These individuals include Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston.

A federal inquiry reportedly connects Durk to a conspiracy charge related to a plot to kill rapper Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman. Rondo is believed to have ties to the 2020 murder of rising rapper King Von in Atlanta.

The charges, revealed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Thursday, indicate that two years after King Von was killed outside a hookah lounge, five suspected members of OTF were seeking to pay for Bowman’s murder and provide music opportunities as a form of revenge.

The individuals mentioned in the indictment are facing charges such as plotting to arrange a murder for payment and actually carrying out a murder for hire that led to a death.

In addition to possessing, transporting, and using guns and machine guns to facilitate a violent crime that leads to death, according to WGN9.

The documents also claimed that a credit card was utilized to send the defendants to Los Angeles in 2022 to look for Bowman.

On October 24, 2024, the indictment against Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston was made public.

Several hours later, Durk was taken into custody in South Florida.

Prosecutors stated that Grant subsequently traveled from Miami to Los Angeles to supply his accomplices with firearms. After that, he rented a white BMW sedan and a white Infiniti, which were used to track Bowman and his family.

A shooting occurred at a gas station on Beverly Boulevard, resulting in the death of Bowman's cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.

A person involved in the conspiracy, who hasn't been named, arranged for the defendants to have their flight back to Chicago covered.

Durk is waiting to be handed over to U.S. Marshals, which indicates that federal officials are now stepping in to handle the situation.

He is also engaged in a different legal case that has been brought on behalf of FBG Duck's family, after the rapper was tragically shot and killed outside a store in Gold Coast in 2020, according to local news sources.

The father of seven gained local recognition in the early 2010s and eventually signed with Def Jam Recordings. He then became a part of Alamo Records.

He gained significant recognition for his appearance on Drake's 2020 song "Laugh Now Cry Later," which reached the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and fourth on the UK singles chart.

He has collaborated with artists like Pooh Shiesty, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled, and Travis Scott on several singles over the past few years.

Durk is set to drop his ninth studio album, titled Deep Thoughts, in November.
