Delap was on loan at Hull City last season, where he netted eight goals in the Championship. This season, he has already scored six goals in the Premier League.

Prior to the international break, Delap netted a goal and assisted another as Ipswich secured a 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on their home turf. This triumph marked Ipswich's first win in the Premier League this season following their promotion from the Championship.

On Sunday, Delap faced off against Manchester United as Ipswich welcomed the Reds to Portman Road. The 21-year-old's impressive performance has sparked discussions about whether City might have the chance to reclaim him for the Etihad Stadium down the line.

The agreement for Delap to make a permanent move to Ipswich involved a £20 million transfer fee. Southampton had also shown interest in acquiring the striker during the summer, but Delap opted to finalize his transfer to East Anglia instead.

When City transferred the player to Ipswich, they added a 20% sell-on clause and a buyback option, allowing them to reacquire the striker if they decide to bring him back to the Etihad. It is still uncertain whether City will choose to utilize the buyback option and what the cost would be in that scenario.

The club already has Erling Haaland as their main striker, but they transferred Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.

Recent reports suggest that Manchester City may be considering a move for Viktor Gyokeres, the striker from Sporting Lisbon. The Swedish forward has been impressive this season, netting 24 goals in just 19 matches. In addition to City, he has also caught the attention of other top clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool as a potential signing.
