At the 41-minute mark, Vardy casually moved down the left side and teased Mavropanos with the ball. Then, he switched gears, outpacing the defender and getting to the edge of the field. 39 minutes into the game: There’s been a goal in tonight’s other match. Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored, putting Crystal Palace in front at Ipswich after an hour of play.
At the 37-minute mark, Vardy tries to steal the ball from Mavropanos, but the West Ham defender manages to guide it out for a throw-in. Instead of getting the ball, Vardy ends up fouling the player and receives a yellow card. There was no intent to harm; it was simply a case of poor timing.
36 min: Soler sends a powerful shot wide to the left from the edge of the area. If it had been on target, Hermansen wouldn't have been able to reach it as he was stuck in place. West Ham has to be questioning how they haven't managed to find the net yet.
In the 35th minute, Alvarez sends a swift low cross from the right side. Bowen positions himself and takes a first-time shot with his foot, aiming for the bottom-right corner. Hermansen makes an impressive save, getting down in time to deflect the ball out for a corner kick, from which …

Buonanotte sends a precise pass into the right channel for McAteer, who gets to the penalty area ahead of Mavropanos. McAteer tries to nudge the ball past the charging Fabianski but fails to do so. Vardy, positioned centrally, might bring this up during the half-time discussion.
30 min: El Khannouss and Buonanotte work together nicely on a counter-attack, then the ball is played out to McAteer on the right. He sees Vardy open in the middle but pauses for a moment, giving the West Ham defense a chance to reset. As a result, he has to retreat. The crowd reacts with disappointment at the loss of what was shaping up to be a promising attack.
28 minutes in: Bowen charges down the right side and sends a tempting low cross into Leicester's six-yard area. Ings was caught off guard. Just a slight touch would have put the ball in the net. Ings can’t believe it and puts his hands on his head, frustrated by this missed chance. West Ham has done everything possible to find the back of the net, but they're still waiting for a goal.
27 minutes in: Wan-Bissaka plays a precise pass to Kudus, who rushes into open space on the left side. Kudus delivers a fantastic cross aimed at Soucek, positioned at the right edge of the six-yard box. Soucek jumps up and heads the ball just past the top-right corner. The traveling fans briefly think they’ve scored, much to the later laughter of the home supporters. That was very close! Hermansen had no chance of reaching it.
At the 25-minute mark, West Ham is moving the ball around skillfully, switching it back and forth. They're showing some solid play. El Khannouss attempts to interrupt their prolonged possession but inadvertently sends the ball out for a corner instead. However, from the resulting corner kick, Leicester makes a quick counterattack down the right side with Buonanotte. Wan-Bissaka steps injust in time with a crucial slide tackle to prevent any danger.

21 minutes in: West Ham responds to Leicester's play with Bowen, who takes a shot from a difficult angle on the right. Hermansen makes a solid save, clearing the ball away.
At the 20-minute mark, Coufal sent a cross into the box from the right side. Vestergaard managed to clear it away, with Kudus and Ings positioned nearby. It was probably fortunate for the home team that they handled the situation, as Buonanotte was roughly shoved off the ball earlier in the play by Kilman, which certainly looked like it warranted a free kick.
At the 18-minute mark, Leicester is calmly passing the ball among their defenders, sticking to the modern approach. The fans are urging Justin to make a run down the right side, but the defender remains focused on the strategy. This leads to some audible sighs from the crowd. It's a tough audience.

Ings leaps from six yards out and his downward header strikes the bottom of the post. Kilman tries to convert the loose ball into a goal, but Vestergaard intercepts and the home team manages to clear it away.
11 min: West Ham is finding a lot of success on the right side. Bowen makes a move in from the wing and sends a low curling shot towards the far post. Hermansen manages to deflect it, resulting in West Ham's first corner of the match. However, the set piece doesn't lead to anything. It's shaping up to be an exciting game.
In the 9th minute, Coufal manages to create some space on the right side and delivers a cross to Kudus, who heads the ball over from just six yards away. However, it looks like Justin might have made contact first and deflected it out for a corner. It seems that way, but the referee disagrees. West Ham is understandably upset about the decision.
In the 8th minute, Kristiansen, positioned close to the left boundary, sends a pass into the center of the field, and Vardy is off again! He attempts to get around the goalkeeper on the left side and then takes a delicate shot that hits Fabianski and goes into the side netting. The following corner doesn’t lead to any opportunities.
In the 7th minute, Mavropanos attempts to make up for his earlier mistake by pushing forward through the inside-right area, but his attempt to pass to Coufal is intercepted. West Ham quickly regains possession, with Bowen appearing to be knocked down just outside the penalty area. However, the referee doesn't blow the whistle, allowing Soucek to seize the loose ball. Unfortunately, he overhits his shot and sends it soaring over the goal.

With a smooth motion, he angles his body and sends the ball past Fabianski into the bottom right corner of the net. However, before the celebration can start, the linesman's flag goes up. Offside.
West Ham kicks things off. Fabianski sends a long pass downfield, but his teammates quickly lose possession. "Since these two teams allowed nine goals over the weekend, let's hope Ruud's presence encourages a lot more scoring," Justin Kavanagh notes. "Oops, I may have just cursed it. What odds are they giving on a scoreless draw?"

Julen Lopetegui shared his thoughts with Amazon, saying, "We picked this starting lineup because we believe they're prepared for this match. Niclas Füllkrug is on the bench, as he will be able to contribute later on. We're pleased to have him back, but we need to take things slowly. Consistency is crucial for us. We recognize that we're up against a strong opponent at their home ground, especially under their new manager. It's a significant challenge, and we need to give our best performance. Our focus should be on ourselves, and we know that Leicester is a solid team."
Ruud van Nistelrooy shared his thoughts with Amazon Prime, saying, "Things have been a bit chaotic! There are long hours and a lot to get done... we're trying to connect with one another as much as we can... from my very first discussion with the owner, everything felt very encouraging... the club, the players, and the facilities are all incredible... everything reaches the highest standard... Enzo [Maresca] is a close friend of mine, and that really helped me make the decision to take this role... we’ll apply pressure at the right times, then move forward... focusing on effective pressing and counter-attacks... our main aim is to stay in the Premier League... I believe we can do it."
