Current Situation In Lebanon: An Overview
Lebanon has the highest number of refugees per person compared to any other nation globally. Most of these individuals have escaped from Syria, but since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza, continuous fighting near Lebanon's southern border has forced thousands more to flee their homes.
The nation is yet to completely bounce back from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating explosions in Beirut in 2020. Currently, it is facing a serious socio-economic crisis, with skyrocketing prices leaving many unable to pay for essentials like food, electricity, or crucial medications.
Consequently, nearly 90% of refugees in Lebanon are facing severe poverty. Many are struggling with hunger, residing in tents or makeshift shelters, and are poorly prepared to shield themselves from the harsh cold and rain during winter. They are in desperate need of assistance to stay alive.
