National League Cup preview | Forest Green vs Wolves U21s

League Cup

The Wolves under-21 team will be competing in the National League Cup against Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday evening, and they'll be playing away.

James Collins brings his young players to The New Lawn for the Old Gold's second match in the new tournament for the 2024/25 season, following their opening group draw against Oldham Athletic.

Wolves are in Group B and earned an additional bonus point by defeating the Latics in a penalty shootout. The team is also scheduled to play against Rochdale and Altrincham, both of which compete in the fifth tier of English football.

The under-21 team heads into the match following an impressive 4-0 win against Aston Villa in PL2 on Saturday. Meanwhile, The Green also earned three points this weekend with a narrow 1-0 victory over Boston United.

After their win against Boston, Steve Cotterill's team has climbed to third place in the National League standings and has not lost in their last six matches, excluding the National League Cup. However, the team playing at home tonight has faced difficulties in this tournament, suffering defeats in their first two home games against Manchester United and Stoke City.
