Broadcaster Lauren Laverne has announced that she has received the "all clear" following her cancer treatment. She shared that the journey has provided her with valuable insights into what is truly important in life.

The 46-year-old BBC host announced on Instagram this past Sunday that she will return to work on The One Show on Tuesday, stating that she had taken some time off to recover.

She expressed that she truly believes, more than ever, that the little moments in life—the relationships we build and the kindness we show to one another—are what truly matter.

Laverne, known for hosting the breakfast show on BBC Radio 6 Music and the program Desert Island Discs on Radio 4, announced her cancer diagnosis in August. At that time, she shared that the disease had been detected early and expressed optimism about her anticipated full recovery.

In her Sunday update, she expressed her gratitude to the amazing medical staff who looked after her so well and to the countless individuals who shared uplifting and heartfelt messages.

"Above all, I want to express my gratitude to my family: my two amazing children and especially my husband Graeme, who was truly remarkable throughout this journey," she shared.

It's been a challenging period, but it's also been a valuable experience that has helped me understand what truly counts.

"I wouldn't say I suddenly felt regret about never hiking the Inca Trail. Instead, I've come to appreciate the beauty in everyday things much more than I ever thought possible."

Her post featured a photo of her in a sweater that had the phrase "Life is beautiful" printed on it.

She mentioned that in August, her cancer was found "unexpectedly during a screening." She encouraged anyone who might be "skipping tests or delaying appointments" to get examined.

She hasn't mentioned the specific kind of cancer she was diagnosed with.

Laverne started stepping in for Kirsty Young on Desert Island Discs in 2018 and eventually became the permanent host.

In her position, she has had the opportunity to speak with a range of notable figures, including Cillian Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Rebel Wilson, Delia Smith, Kate Mosse, and John Legend.

In the past, she hosted BBC Two's The Culture Show and Channel 4's 10 O'Clock Live. During the 1990s, she was a singer and guitarist for the alternative rock group Kenickie.

A representative from the BBC commented, "We’re thrilled to have Lauren return to the studio this month for The One Show and Desert Island Discs. New episodes will be available on Radio 4 starting December 1, and we’re excited to see her back on BBC Radio 6 Music in the new year."

If you or someone you know is dealing with cancer, you can find a list of organizations that might offer assistance on the BBC Action Line page.
