Lindsey Graham has encouraged Donald Trump to distance himself from the divisive far-right figure Laura Loomer after her racist remarks and Trump's disappointing debate performance against Kamala Harris.

The Republican senator, a close supporter of Trump, acknowledged that he shares the same view as Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has urged the former president to distance himself from Loomer following her racist comments about Harris's Indian heritage.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene has a valid point. I don’t often say that,” Graham shared with Huffpost. “We may have different views on policies, but her history is extremely damaging. She even suggested that Kellyanne Conway's daughter should take her own life. I'm not sure how we got to this point, but I really don’t see it as beneficial. In fact, I think it’s quite the opposite.”

On Wednesday, Greene criticized Loomer for making a racist comment about Harris. She stated, “This doesn't reflect our values as Republicans or as part of the MAGA movement. It doesn't align with President Trump. Such behavior should never be accepted.” She shared her thoughts on the social media platform X.

Her criticism ignited a public clash between the two on social media.

In a surprising turn, Graham expressed his support for Greene, criticizing Loomer’s comments about Harris as “disgraceful.”

"But there's more to it," the senator from South Carolina went on. "Some of her comments about Republicans and others are concerning. For instance, suggesting that someone's daughter should take her own life is unacceptable. I believe the president would be wise to ensure this doesn't escalate into a larger issue."

Prior to the debate, Graham cautioned that Trump could risk losing the election unless he changes his approach and stops personally targeting Harris.

Some Republicans are worried that Loomer is having an impact on Trump and fear that she might be linked to his disappointing performance in the debate. This concern arises after she flew with him to Philadelphia on Tuesday before his confrontation with Harris.

She was spotted in the spin room following the debate and was alongside Trump in New York for the 9/11 memorial ceremony.

A source linked to the president's campaign expressed concerns that the far-right activist might be exacerbating Trump's vulnerabilities, according to a report from Semafor.

"Trump's poor showing in the debate is what led to his loss," said Dennis Lennox, a Republican consultant, in an interview. "This is the result of not being prepared, spending too much time in the Fox News and X environment, and depending on people like Matt Gaetz and even Laura Loomer."

Loomer has gained attention for her provocative actions, such as the time she protested her Twitter suspension by chaining herself to the company's New York office. During the protest, she wore a yellow Jewish star and likened her situation to the Holocaust.

The controversial far-right figure has expressed her backing for white nationalism and claimed that the United States is a "white Judeo-Christian ethnocentric nation" that is being harmed by diversity.
