Laura Kuenssberg 'embarrassed' by Boris Johnson email error
The planned interview between BBC host Laura Kuenssberg and Boris Johnson has been called off because she inadvertently shared her briefing documents with the former prime minister.
Boris Johnson: The interview with Laura Kuenssberg was scheduled to air on Thursday night on BBC One.
The BBC's previous political editor stated that it was inappropriate for the interview to take place, especially after she had shared notes meant for her colleagues with him.
Kuenssberg referred to the situation as "awkward and disheartening," yet noted that "putting aside any shame, being truthful is the most important approach."
The BBC stated that they reached an agreement with Johnson's team to cancel the interview, considering it the most suitable course of action.
Johnson is currently doing media interviews to promote his new memoir, which has also been published in a newspaper in installments.

Presenters often collaborate with a group of researchers to create a summary before a significant interview.
The process typically involves collecting background information about the individual, pointing out any disputes or issues, and developing potential questions to ask.
In a message shared on X late Wednesday, Kuenssberg clarified, "As I was getting ready to interview Boris Johnson the next day, I accidentally sent our briefing notes to him in a message that was intended for my team."
"This clearly indicates that the interview should not take place."
She added, "It's really frustrating, and there's no need to sugarcoat it—it's both embarrassing and disappointing. There are many crucial questions that need to be addressed."
"Despite any embarrassment, the truth is always the way to go. I'll catch you on Sunday," she continued, mentioning her usual Sunday morning political show, which will still take place as scheduled.
In a public announcement, the BBC confirmed that the interview with Boris Johnson scheduled for Thursday will not take place.
As Laura has mentioned, notes intended for team members about the interview were accidentally given to him. This situation makes it impossible to hold the interview scheduled for tomorrow.
Given the situation, both the BBC and Mr. Johnson's team have come to a consensus that this is the most effective path ahead.
During her show over the weekend, Kuenssberg mentioned that her conversation with Johnson would be his "first interview regarding his time in office following his unexpected exit from Downing Street."
The BBC announced that it has returned EastEnders to its regular timeslot of 7:30 PM BST on Thursday, replacing the interview that was previously scheduled.
Johnson is scheduled to have an interview with another BBC reporter, Matt Chorley, on 5 Live this coming Tuesday.
