In Berlin, Lamine Yamal, a teenager from Barcelona, made history by becoming the youngest player to participate in the European Championship. His remarkable achievement took place on Saturday during Spain's triumph over Croatia in Group B.

Yamal, who is 16 years and 338 days old, has broken the record previously held by Polish midfielder Kacper Kozłowski. Kozłowski was 17 years and 246 days old when he replaced Spain in Euro 2020 (held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak).

During the tournament, the record was broken for the second time. This happened after England's Jude Bellingham did better than the previous record set by Netherlands' left-back Jetro Willems during Euro 2012.

Yamal made Spain's third goal happen in their 3-0 victory against Croatia. He gave a fantastic pass to Dani Carvajal, which resulted in them scoring. As a result of this victory, the three-time champions began their tournament on the right foot.

Yamal expressed his elation about the victory and his debut, and stated that the team's attention has shifted towards the upcoming game. He emphasized that the team prefers to play indoors and he is willing to support his team in any way possible, whether it be through defensive maneuvers or anything else.

"Our team is highly productive thanks to the effort we've invested in the past months, which is evident in our performance today."

Yamal has made history by becoming the youngest player to ever participate in the Euros, while Carvajal's goal at the age of 32 has also granted him the title of Spain's oldest goal scorer in the competition.

Spain's Captain Álvaro Morata and Fabián Ruiz both found the net as they comfortably dominated in the initial half of the game. However, they failed to further extend their lead during a relatively uneventful second half.

Yamal has set a new record for his age group, which is just one of many he has surpassed. There is potential for him to break even more records at Euro 2024 in Germany.

If he manages to score during any part of the finals, he will break the record for being the youngest player to score in the competition, which is currently held by Johan Vonlanthen.

Vonlanthen of Switzerland scored a goal at the Euro 2004 when he was just 18 years and 141 days old. This happened only four days after Wayne Rooney of England had briefly held the record for being the youngest scorer in the European Championship.

At only 18 years and four days old, Bellingham has made history by being the youngest player to participate in a knockout game. This achievement beats out both Pedri from Spain and Jamal Musiala from Germany, who were also competing at Euro 2020 at the time.

Renato Sanches from Portugal holds the record for being the youngest player to have participated in the final at the tender age of 18 years and 328 days. On the other hand, Yamal will be only 17 years old the day ahead of the final event in Berlin.

Yamal, the winger for Barça, has achieved multiple records at a very young age. He is now the youngest player to start and score in LaLiga, and he also broke the record for being the youngest player to participate in a Champions League knockout game during the Napoli match this year.

Even though he's not a young player anymore, he still participates frequently in both his club and national team. In the season of 2023-2024, he played 50 games for Barça across all competitions, managing to score seven times and assist with ten other goals.

In September, he played his first official game for the Spanish national team and became the youngest player to score a goal for the team in a victory against Georgia. He recently played his eighth game for the team in a match versus Croatia.
