Watch Lady Gaga change Mona Lisa's smile in snippet of video for new song "The Joker"
Several weeks back, Lady Gaga was seen shooting a project at the renowned Louvre Museum in Paris, and we’ve now learned what it was for.
Gaga recently shared a detailed teaser on Instagram for a music video from her newly revealed album, *Harlequin*, which is said to complement her upcoming film *Joker: Folie à Deux*. The track, titled “Joker,” has a relaxed rock vibe, and in the video, Gaga explores the empty corridors of a museum after dark while performing the song.
In the final moments of the video, she arrives at the Louvre to stand before its most famous masterpiece — Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. The invaluable artwork is protected by glass, prompting Gaga to take out a lipstick and create a bold red smile over the Mona Lisa's mysterious half-smirk.
When Gaga shifts away from the canvas, we notice that she has unexpectedly put on her Harley Quinn eye makeup.
“There’s always someone who stands out, always that solitary jester,” she sings. “The unfortunate, laughing fool ends up on the ground, and everyone enjoys watching him fail.” The video wraps up with Gaga passionately declaring, “I am the joker! I am the joker!”
Harlequin is set to make its debut on September 27.
