Lady Gaga Clarifies Harlequin Album
Lady Gaga has explained whether her upcoming film soundtrack is regarded as her next official studio album.
Gaga takes on the role of the antagonist Harleen 'Lee' Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn, in the upcoming superhero film Joker: Folie à Deux, set to hit theaters next month.
She excited her fans by releasing an album called Harlequin on Friday to accompany the film. However, it has left many wondering if this should be counted as her seventh studio album.
In an interview with Rolling Stone about her projects, Gaga shared, "I had a very strong connection with Lee. Even after I finished shooting the film, I felt that my journey with her wasn't over."
Hinting at the album being titled "LG 6.5" instead of "LG 7," the artist indicated that listeners can expect a complete Gaga album in the near future as well.
She explained, “(Harlequin) represents my work. While it’s a Lady Gaga album, it also reflects my persona and my ideas about the possibilities of womanhood. That’s why the music doesn’t fit neatly into a single genre.”
She mentioned, “While my upcoming studio album isn't strictly a pop record, it does fall somewhere in the middle and blends elements of pop music."
Harlequin is coming out through Interscope Records, and the artist had hinted that the first track from her upcoming album, LG7, which currently doesn’t have a title, will drop in October, just before the complete album is launched.
Her most recent studio album, Chromatica, came out in 2020.
