Lady Gaga has announced that she will be launching an album featuring 13 songs to go along with her upcoming movie, Joker: Folie à Deux.
The singer and actress initially hinted at the announcement through social media and billboards earlier this week. She has now confirmed that her album, named Harlequin, is set to come out on Friday, September 27.
The list of songs indicates that the album will feature renditions of timeless tracks from the movie, like "Oh, When the Saints" and "Get Happy," as well as new original songs.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Gaga shared, “I composed a waltz for the film. I invited a pianist, Alex Smith, to join me during my scenes.” Gaga is no stranger to film, having starred in A Star is Born and House of Gucci.
In the film, there are scenes where I portray a grown woman who sings in a childlike voice. She navigates her life with a sense of naivety, which I found intriguing.
Gaga plays the role of Harleen Quinzel, who is better known as Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the musical follow-up to Todd Phillips' psychological thriller, Joker.
Launched in 2019, the original movie achieved two Academy Awards and was a commercial hit, even though it garnered a variety of responses from critics.
Harlequin's launch will happen at the same time as another Joker soundtrack, Joker: Folie à Deux (Music from the Motion Picture), created by Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir.
Gaga has informed her fans that the first single from her upcoming seventh album, which still doesn't have a title, will be released in October. The complete album is set to drop in February.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to hit theaters in the UK and the US on Friday, October 4th.
In a four-star review from The Independent, critic Geoffrey Macnab noted that some aspects of the plot can feel unsettling. For example, the distinction between fantasy and reality isn't always clearly defined. However, he concluded that Folie à Deux maintains the same intense and unsettling vibe as its predecessor, echoing the concept of contemporary American cities as volatile places, always on the brink of chaos.
He went on to say, "The film's dark essence is emphasized by its harsh conclusion, which dismisses typical comic book elements in favor of a deeper psychological exploration. Phoenix's portrayal is intense and moving as well. What’s remarkable is that we find ourselves feeling compassion for Arthur, even with his desperate and disturbed nature."
"Even in the film's most chaotic and brutal scenes, we consistently recognize that beneath the Joker's flashy makeup lies the fragile figure of Arthur. Surprisingly, this clever and deeply disturbing movie evolves into a poignant tearjerker by the end."
