Kyle Walker's theatrics sparked anger from Roy Keane when the Manchester City defender managed to escape a red card during the derby against Manchester United.
Walker got into a heated exchange with Rasmus Hojlund after making contact with the United striker. However, he then ended up on the ground as the two confronted each other.
Replays indicated that there was minimal, if any, contact between Hojlund and Walker after their initial clash. Nonetheless, that didn’t prevent the 34-year-old from falling to the ground.
It sparked a tense clash between the players from both teams at the Etihad Stadium, resulting in Hojlund and Walker receiving yellow cards.
At first, it looked like Hojlund might get a red card for his reckless behavior, but in the end, Walker managed to avoid being sent off.
The England player might have received a yellow card for tripping Hojlund initially and then put himself in danger of getting another one for diving.
During half-time on Sky Sports, former United captain Keane was highly critical as the replay of the incident was aired.
When host Kelly Cates asked if a red card might have been warranted, Keane responded, “Absolutely, for Walker.”
"There will definitely be some heated moments in the game," he added.
"Clearly, it's a foul, which means it’s a free kick. Hojlund falls down, but Walker should feel ashamed of that. I don’t even know him, yet I feel embarrassed for him."
Micah Richards, a former defender for the City team, came to Walker’s aid by asserting that the right back is “more capable than that.”
"I'm not really convinced," Keane replied with a smirk.
The United forward ended up triumphant as Amad Diallo sparked an exciting turnaround at the Etihad Stadium.
In a post featuring a photo of himself and Walker clashing on the field, Hojlund commented: “Manchester is painted red; Violets are blue; What an amazing display; Yet, the award goes to…”
