Victoria Cairns passed away four days after she was struck by a pickup truck.

Kyle Hutton, a former player for Rangers, has been accused in connection with the death of a woman who was struck by a truck in South Lanarkshire.

Reports suggest that a 33-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi pickup truck on Farmeloan Road in Rutherglen on Saturday night when he struck Victoria Cairns.

Ms. Cairns, aged 40, was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she unfortunately passed away on Wednesday.

Hutton was taken into custody and accused of violating traffic laws. He was supposed to be in court earlier this week, but he didn't show up.

The Crown office has verified that the case against him is still ongoing.

The BBC reports that there are currently no additional court dates planned for the case.

Hutton became a part of Rangers in 2010 and stayed with the team until 2015. After that, he played for various clubs such as St Mirren, Queen of the South, and Cowdenbeath.

The midfielder is currently a player for Gartcairn.

Authorities are urging anyone who saw the incident or has dash-cam video to reach out to them.
