Sky News has learned that the King will not be present at the upcoming COP29 climate conference next month.

The king is widely recognized for supporting environmental issues and delivered a speech at the start of last year’s event in Dubai.

The 75-year-old King is still undergoing treatment for a type of cancer that has not been revealed.

Nonetheless, he will pause it for the 11 days he’s traveling abroad on a royal visit to Australia and Samoa, starting next week.

A trip to New Zealand had to be called off based on the doctor's recommendations, and changes were made to the remaining itinerary to ensure there was plenty of time for rest.

When the journey was revealed, a representative from Buckingham Palace stated, "We had to make some tough choices regarding the schedule in collaboration with the Australian government, determining which locations their majesties will be able to visit."

The King's sole trip abroad since revealing his cancer diagnosis in February took place in June, when he attended the D-Day memorial events in Normandy.

The COP29 conference will kick off in Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 11, a little more than two weeks after the royal family's lengthy return trip to the UK.

During last year's COP meeting, the King called on global leaders to implement tangible measures to address the climate emergency, guiding individuals and countries away from actions that increase risks to our planet.

He did not attend the 2022 summit, which was the first one during his time in office, because the government advised that he stay away from the event in Egypt after everyone agreed on this decision.
