Football fans have been left 'baffled' by Nottingham Forest’s acquisition of Real Madrid legend Keylor Navas.

Considering the fact dozens of players have joined the club over the last two transfer windows, it’s safe to say Steve Cooper’s side have been one of the biggest transfer stories over the last six months. Yet, even for Forest’s unpredictable standards, the arrival of the three=time Champions League winner came as somewhat of a shock on Deadline Day.

Navas brings a wealth of trophies, pedigree, and could very well be the first player in Forest's recent history to rock up at the City Ground with more European winner’s medals than the club itself. And despite the madness of transfer deadline day 2023, the arrival of the former Paris Saint-Germain shot stopper has stunned fans.

"Forest signing a 3 times UCL winner from PSG. Bringing back out the term ‘unprecedented times’ mental," one fan laughed on social media. "Keylor Navas must be the first person to play for Nottingham Forest with more European Cups than the club itself," another laughed.

"It's like a Football Manager save," another tweeted, before one other supporter commented "I swear I'm living in a simulation."

"I’m fully baffled that Nottingham Forest have signed Keylor Navas… like where the f*** did that come from," laughed another fan, before one supporter simply wrote "what a phenomenal signing".

Navas joins the club on loan for the remainder of the campaign. His arrival will be particularly interesting, as he will be competing with Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson.

The ex-Sheffield United goalkeeper linked up with Cooper’s side so he could play more first team football. While his performances for Forest have been good this season, Navas’ presence will immediately threaten his position.

And considering the fact Cooper’s side are only four points above the drop zone, the former England U17 manager will have a very difficult decision to make.
