Frasier star Kelsey Grammer buys house in Somerset with wife

19 Jan 2023

Star of American sitcom 'Frasier' Kelsey Grammer has bought a house in Portishead with his wife. The actor, a regular visitor to the North Somerset town, announced the couple have purchased ‘a little place’ in the town and will now be working on the property.

In an interview with Radio Bristol, Mr Grammar said: “I love the people of Portishead and the time we spend there. "We’ve actually bought a place there. A little place we are going to be working on.

“We probably won’t be taking up residence for a while, but we are pretty excited about it.” Although it is not known exactly where in the town the property is, Mr Grammar hinted it was close to the coast.

“It’s got a little view of Wales,” he said. “And the channel. It’s nice.” The star of the stage and screen, known for his iconic performances as Dr Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier as well as Sideshow Bob in the Simpsons, often pops up in Portishead as his wife Kayte Walsh hails from the North Somerset town.

The pair have been spotted enjoying dinner in local restaurants including Bottelinos. Kelsey and his wife Kayte have been married since 2011 and share three children together.

She grew up in Portishead, attended Gordano School, and is the daughter of former Bristol City footballer Alan Walsh. Mr Grammer was also spotted at the former Portishead Golf Course in 2017 when he filmed a promo video for the now closed facility.

The Frasier star played a round at Portishead’s nine hole course and was filmed playing and chatting to former PGA tour pro John Morgan. The film, captured by his brother-in-law Stuart, showed local golf legend Mr Morgan giving a few lessons on his technique to Mr Grammer, as well as chatting about everything from golf movies to the spectacular views of the sea to be had from the course.

News that the couple have bought a house in Portishead comes as the star revealed there is to be a Frasier reboot, starring Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst. The role will be a reunion for Grammer and Lyndhurst, who previously starred together in Man of La Mancha for the English National Opera at the London Coliseum.

The Frasier revival was originally announced in February 2021. However, it's thought Mr Grammer had been trying to get a new version of the show off the ground for a long time.
