Katie Taylor wants Chantelle Cameron trilogy at Croke Park | 'Don't ever doubt me!' says two-weight undisputed champ
Katie Taylor was overwhelmed with emotions as she marked her triumph over Chantelle Cameron with a majority ruling.
Taylor had already secured her spot in the annals of boxing, but her legacy grew even further as she achieved two-weight undisputed championship status, acquiring Cameron's super-lightweight titles in addition to her existing lightweight belts.
What made the victory remarkable was the situation surrounding it. Taylor had previously lost to Cameron by a points decision in May. Despite this setback, she requested a rematch and was considered the less likely candidate to win when she faced Cameron once again in Dublin.
However, Taylor pulled off a classic performance and obtained what is likely the best win of her profession thus far in a challenging and exhausting battle.
If a person's occupation involves beating Amanda Serrano in Madison Square Garden, along with several other memorable victories, it merely emphasizes their exceptional performance.
Taylor spoke after and said, "If you thought I was not capable, then you do not understand me enough."
Never question my abilities.
Despite being 37 years old, Taylor was able to learn and adjust from her initial loss and triumph in the subsequent showdown.
She stated that you gain the most knowledge from your unsuccessful attempts and defeats. She emphasized that quitting is the only way you can consider yourself a failure. Therefore, persist, try again and keep going.
Taylor and Cameron have each emerged victorious in one battle against the other. The freshly crowned champion is willing and ready for a decisive third confrontation.
"I revealed my true self tonight. When it comes to boxing, I am unbeatable," claimed Taylor.
"Have you considered attending all three events at Croke Park in a row? It would be quite the experience!"
Taylor is eager for another bout with Cameron and hopes that it will be just as thrilling as the previous two.
She said: "My preferred boxer is Marco Antonio Barrera. The three fights between Barrera and [Erik] Morales are the most exceptional trilogy you can witness."
Having a trilogy like that would be highly significant for the sport. It would be even more amazing if it were to take place at Croke Park, where 80,000 people could attend.
"We were all hoping to hear that during the homecoming, so it would be incredibly fantastic if it came true."
Dublin Riots Hope: Taylor's Win Unites!
According to Taylor, the recent stabbing incident in Dublin which caused a night of violent protests left her feeling deeply saddened. However, she believes that her upcoming home bout with Cameron can serve as a unifying force that can help bring the nation together and promote healing.
Taylor expressed her happiness during the post-fight press conference upon learning about the heartfelt support she received from the Irish public following her triumph.
Last Thursday, there was a situation where a person attacked three kids and their care worker with a knife outside of a school in Dublin. This incident caused a lot of chaos because rumors started to spread online about the attacker potentially being an immigrant, but these claims were not confirmed.
A young girl of five years old was severely hurt in the assault and is presently in a critical state, while the woman who assists with caring for her is in a serious condition and also receiving treatment at a Dublin medical facility.
The two additional kids, a boy who is five years old and a girl who is six years old, sustained injuries that were not as severe and were released from the hospital.
Taylor expressed that it is truly cowardly and difficult for them to understand the hardship that those families are currently experiencing.
