The artist revealed on Thursday that the money she makes from her OnlyFans account will support her performances.

Nash, who kicked off her UK tour in Glasgow on Thursday, shared with LBC: “I've launched an OnlyFans account and I'm posting photos of my backside because I find it quite amusing. Plus, I actually feel empowered by it.”

"I believe that sex work can be a source of empowerment. Seeing women take charge of what they choose to offer is truly empowering."

Singer Kate Nash mentioned that her involvement with OnlyFans makes her feel empowered (Gareth Fuller/PA).

"In the last 72 hours, I've engaged in numerous discussions about ethics, consent, and the boundaries of what I'm comfortable with and what I'm not."

"People genuinely want to pay me for my work and often have questions for me. However, there are limits and a sense of control that I believe artists aren't properly taught when they step into the music industry."

"I believe that the music industry has a lot to gain from observing the sex industry, even though I recognize that many individuals in that field face exploitation too."

Nash had earlier mentioned to the BBC that her tours were not financially successful and stated that her earnings from OnlyFans would help cover the costs of her performances. According to her Instagram, she noted that "touring results in losses rather than profits."

When she was questioned about her reasons for thinking that a music career is no longer financially sustainable, she explained to LBC: “Touring expenses have increased. Similar to the current cost-of-living issues, there’s an actual crisis concerning touring costs—where expenses for travel, lodging, crew salaries, bus rentals, and all the necessary expenses for touring have all risen significantly.”

The artist spoke out against the exploitation happening in the music industry (Niall Carson/PA).

"However, many bands and artists are still receiving the same payments for their performances, even though ticket prices have increased."

She mentioned, “There’s a significant gap among artists; while some musicians are billionaires, most musicians don’t reach that level and aren’t millionaires either.”

The big record labels, streaming platforms, and large promotional companies have taken control of the industry and have chosen not to prioritize musicians or provide them with a reasonable share of the profits.

When questioned about possible issues of inequality on OnlyFans, she replied that inequality exists in every single industry that people have been a part of.

She mentioned, “The sex industry has many fascinating subcultures. Additionally, there are a lot of open-minded individuals who find excitement in a wide variety of interests."

"I'm not convinced that people are drawn to the same things. There are many incredible feminist queer individuals producing engaging feminist queer sex work available for purchase."

"There are many feminists and members of the queer community who are interested in watching adult films. I may not be involved in creating adult content myself, but it's important to recognize the wide variety of options available within the realm of sex work."

"However, as you've pointed out, there's inequality in every industry. This is my way of making a bold statement. If I had simply shared a photo of myself at a concert and mentioned that I was going on tour and finding it challenging, I doubt I would be in this position. I don't believe I would have made it to the front page of Reddit or received attention from the BBC."

Nash emphasized the need for a significant transformation in what she regarded as a highly exploitative sector.

She expressed, "We require significant change. It's essential to have HR departments and ensure fair pay. I have experienced exploitation many times."

"I'm receiving a lot of focus for my actions. People know my name, and that helps me draw attention. However, I don't believe I have the influence to bring about significant change in the industry. But by doing this, I feel empowered. It's important to note that these are two distinct ideas."

"They shouldn't be confused with each other. Sending pictures of my body can be playful, enjoyable, and even flirtatious, among other things."

"I believe there's a lot of humor to be found in this. It has an edgy, rebellious spirit, along with a playful vibe, and it tackles the excessive shame around sexual topics and sex work. People might react with surprise and form opinions, but that's all part of the enjoyment too."

"This is all about motivating individuals to relax and let go of any embarrassment they may feel about their bodies and their desires, including those related to sex and pleasure."

Nash recently wrapped up a three-week tour across the United States and kicked off her UK tour on Thursday in Glasgow.

After that, she will head to Europe. Her performance at Koko in London has already sold out.
