Kate Abdo left viewers confused during the live broadcast on Netflix of Jake Paul's unanimous victory against Mike Tyson in Texas on Friday night.

The sports host, recognized for maintaining order while Micah Richards, Jamie Carragher, and Thierry Henry bring the laughs during CBS's Champions League broadcasts, transitioned to covering boxing for Netflix at AT&T Stadium.

Nonetheless, viewers promptly asserted that it wasn't just the sports that the British host was changing.

Abdo, originally from Manchester in northern England, was criticized for allegedly using a fake American accent while co-hosting the panel with Andre Ward and Cedric the Entertainer.

A lot of fans were shocked and wondering why the 43-year-old was pretending to have such a terrible accent.

Kate Abdo left viewers puzzled as she presented Netflix's coverage of the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

The announcer was covering the boxing event where Paul emerged victorious over Tyson with a unanimous decision on Friday night.

"Hey @netflix, why is #kateabdo speaking with that terrible accent? ???? Just be yourself, Kate," wrote a boxing fan, adding a bunch of American flag emojis.

"One confused viewer questioned, 'Why is Kate Abdo using that American accent? It's funny but kind of awkward.'"

Another person was just as puzzled and asked, "Why is Kate Abdo talking with an American accent?"

One viewer commented, "I can't handle Kate Abdo's lame effort at an American accent while covering Paul Tyson," and included a GIF that showed they were feeling extremely embarrassed.

"As someone from the UK, I truly apologize to all Americans for Kate Abdo’s cringe-worthy American accent," said one British viewer, expressing their regret.

"Kate Abdo should embrace the variety of accents," another person on social media criticized. "It's surprising that you were born in Manchester. Stop trying to use a silly voice."

At the same time, a viewer posted a GIF capturing the unforgettable moment when Abdo's CBS co-workers, Henry and Carragher, were taken aback after discovering that Brendan Rodgers, the ex-manager of Liverpool, had been let go while they were live on Sky Sports.

"They mentioned the 'Kate Abdo accent change' while sharing the brief video."

Numerous fans were taken aback, wondering why Abdo was pretending to have a 'terrible' American accent.

Some people pointed out that Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, seemed to change her accent based on her audience.

One commenter mentioned: "Kate Abdo just came from the Kamala Harris class on accents..."

Abdo has organized numerous significant boxing events for different networks such as DAZN and Fox.

In September, the host married American boxing coach Malik Scott in a stunning ceremony set in the hills of Malibu.

Malik's kids were there to witness the ceremony, and the joyful pair took some photos with the trainer's son and daughter following their wedding.

Originally from Manchester, England, Abdo started her career with networks like Sky Sports and Fox Sports before establishing herself in the U.S. She is well-known for her role as the host of CBS Sports' broadcasts of the UEFA Champions League.

Abdo's career soared when she began working regularly as a presenter on Sky Sports, where she covered European football and various significant sporting events. Her ability to speak Spanish, German, and French fluently set her apart from others in the field.
