Trump campaign events usually involve family members, and the Republican National Convention is no different. Donald Trump's two sons and their partners are in attendance. While Melania and Ivanka are not there yet, Trump has brought in another female relative to speak in support of him: his 17-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump.
At the event, Kai was brought on stage by her father, Donald Trump Jr., and she wore a white dress with cutout detailing. She chose not to talk about Trump's policies, and instead fondly recalled their shared love for "candy and soda."
"I want to share a different side of my grandpa with everyone," she shared. She mentioned how the media often portrays him in a negative light, a sentiment that Amber Rose also expressed a few days ago. "But I know the real him," she said. She described her grandpa as someone who sneaks candy and soda to them when their parents aren't around. He always asks about their school life and even proudly shows off their achievements to his friends. She mentioned how he would call her during school hours to talk about his golf game, forgetting that she is in school and will have to call him back later.
Kai, a big fan of golf, shared a picture of her grandfather raising his fist after surviving an assassination attempt last Sunday. The caption read, "We support you Grandpa. Keep fighting!" She also mentioned playing golf with Trump and how he always checks in on her well-being, even amidst his legal battles. She said, "Many have caused my grandpa a lot of pain, but he remains strong."
Being a member of the Trump family, Kai’s natural next move is to join the campaign trail. Her mother is Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Don Jr. Both her father and his loud fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are also in attendance. Guilfoyle made it clear to the audience that surviving the assassination attempt proves that God is protecting Trump. Eric Trump and his wife, Lara, who is the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, are present as well. Eric assured reporters that Melania and Ivanka will be joining them later in the week, despite Ivanka previously stating she did not plan to be involved in politics. This Republican convention is essentially a Trump family reunion.
