Ricky Gervais mocked Justin Timberlake for being arrested for driving under the influence.

The funny actor known for his work in The Office, Extras, and After Life, used to make fun of famous celebrities as he hosted the Golden Globes. This time, he directed his jokes towards the singer who was recently arrested and reportedly released without any bail on Tuesday (18 June).

The artist behind "Cry Me a River," who rose to fame as one of the top solo pop stars in the 2000s after leaving Nineties boy band NSYNC, stated that he had only had "a single martini" before being stopped by the police for erratic driving in the Hamptons.

As per a report obtained by the New York Post, Timberlake, who starred in the 2010 movie The Social Network, showed unsatisfactory results on all conventional field sobriety tests and refused multiple times to undergo a breathalyser examination.

Gervais mentioned Timberlake's X/Twitter account in a post a few hours later, asking: "Did you receive the Dutch Barn Vodka bottle I sent you recently?"

The article created differing opinions among the readers, as a single individual praised it as the most excellent post they came across that day while some criticized it for making jests about the topic at an inappropriate time.

It's uncertain if Timberlake's detention would have an impact on his global tour, scheduled to resume on June 21 in Chicago. The artist known for "Señorita" has been accused of driving while impaired and two traffic infractions for not stopping at a stop sign and driving on the wrong side of the street.

He has a court appearance scheduled for July 26th.

Timberlake's image was tarnished following the release of a book by Britney Spears titled "The Woman in Me" back in 2023. The book contained significant information about their relationship and their eventual breakup, where Spears accused Timberlake of cheating on her on numerous occasions and ending their relationship through a brief text that said only two words.

Nonetheless, Timberlake expressed his endorsement for Spears amid her conservatorship court fight in June 2021, stating: "It's unacceptable for any woman to face restrictions when it comes to deciding for her own body. Our expectation is that the judiciary and those close to her will rectify this situation and permit her to lead her life freely."

Last year, Timberlake made a public statement expressing remorse to his spouse, Jessica Biel, following a photo of him and his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright holding hands in New Orleans.

"I try to avoid spreading gossip as much as possible. However, when it comes to my family, I believe it is necessary to confront the recent rumors that are causing harm to my loved ones," Timberlake expressed on social media. "I made a serious mistake a few weeks ago - but I want to clarify that nothing improper occurred between myself and my co-star."

He carried on saying, "I consumed an excessive amount of alcohol on that particular night, and I feel remorse over my actions. I ought to have exhibited better judgement. My conduct does not reflect the kind of role model I want to be for my child."

I am sorry to my exceptional spouse and relatives for subjecting them to an awkward predicament, and my efforts are directed towards becoming a superior spouse and father. This conduct was not acceptable.
