A court official in the Hamptons, New York has confirmed to the Guardian that Justin Timberlake will be arraigned on Tuesday for a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence.

The courthouse in Sag Harbor was where the arraignment for the popular singer and actor was scheduled to take place after he was detained in that area on Monday evening, as reported by Newsday in New York.

The police department in the village of Sag Harbor hasn't given any specific information about the arrest yet. However, they assured that they will give an update regarding the case later today on Tuesday.

Timberlake was arrested for DWI in Sag Harbor about a year after he was featured on Oprah's Master Class where he admitted to consuming too much alcohol at one point during his career. During his conversation with Oprah, he talked about how he sought help for his addiction and focused on taking care of himself. The website Singersroom reported this.

The apprehension of the performer is highly likely to spark further unwanted attention for him, adding to the mounting negative coverage that has resulted mostly from Britney Spears' 2023 autobiography in which she depicted him negatively. The two were previously in a romantic relationship and were also co-stars on the television show Mickey Mouse Club.

According to the blog post, Spears shared her experience of being pressured by Timberlake to terminate a pregnancy while they were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002. Timberlake was a member of the popular boy band ‘NSync and was also starting to establish himself as a solo artist during that time. In an effort to keep her identity private, Spears chose to have the procedure done within her own home, but the pain was so unbearable that she ended up crying on the floor. Instead of showing care and support for her, Timberlake tried to comfort her by playing an acoustic guitar and singing to her.

A lot of people who are into music criticized Timberlake harshly because he became very successful after he exposed Janet Jackson's body during their performance in the 2004 Super Bowl, which negatively affected her career. Spears apologized for hurting anyone that she cared about with her book and praised Timberlake's latest song called Selfish, which helped him come back into the music scene.

However, Spears' apology did not provide Timberlake with any long-lasting relief. He aroused further criticism when he addressed the audience at a New York concert and declared, "I want to use this chance to not say sorry to anybody, damn it!" In response, Spears took back her apology, and numerous fans supported her after she expressed on social media: "Someone informed me that an individual was spreading rumors about me on the streets!... I have no regrets!"

Following those events, the musician who has won 10 Grammy awards and four Emmy awards, dropped his sixth album in March. However, unlike his preceding four albums which topped the charts, the latest album made its debut at No 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Unfortunately, it ultimately disappeared from that chart altogether by April.

At the moment, the sales of tickets for the Forget Tomorrow tour have been average. The actor who appeared in the movies Friends With Benefits and The Social Network, and is the star of the tour, canceled a performance in Columbia, South Carolina on 8th June without giving any reason for it.

As news of his detention on Tuesday circulated, seats for forthcoming tour shows set to take place at the United Center in Chicago on June 21 and 22, and the Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 25 and 26 became unoccupied.

Officials from Timberlake's team have not yet responded regarding his detention in Sag Harbor.
