According to a report from local authorities, musician Justin Timberlake was apprehended in New York for operating a vehicle under the influence. This information was shared with the BBC.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office that the famous singer had been taken into custody and officially accused of a crime. However, no additional information was provided at this time.

Timberlake got caught in Sag Harbor, a wealthy town in the Hamptons, a frequently visited summer spot for famous people on Long Island.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office revealed that he was set free without bail after facing formal charges.

The entertainer who goes by the name of Timberlake, and is aged 43, had plans to start a worldwide tour for his sixth record, called Everything I Thought It Was.

Timberlake, who used to be part of the well-known NSYNC boy band, is now recognized as an actor and songwriter. He has also achieved great success as a music artist and has sold a significant number of records worldwide.

The famous singer has been vocal previously about getting assistance with her problematic drinking habits.

In New York, if you are caught driving while intoxicated, the consequences could include spending a year in jail, paying a fine of $1,000 (£786), and having your driver's licence suspended for at least six months.

Timberlake had planned to give two performances in Chicago during this weekend, and another performance in New York's Madison Square Garden on the following Tuesday.

The individual who has won 10 Grammy awards is recognized for their performances in the movies The Social Network and Friends With Benefits.

Timberlake and actor Jessica Biel got hitched and have two little ones together.
