Featuring Jude Law, The Holiday will be broadcast on Channel 5 at 5:25 pm, making it perfect for a cozy Sunday night.

Launched in 2006, this drama tells the story of two women—one from America and the other from Britain—who find themselves unhappy with their lives after going through difficult breakups.

To boost their holiday mood for Christmas, they choose to exchange houses for the season. In a classic romantic comedy fashion, the main characters, played by Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, discover love while enjoying their getaway.

The romantic comedy was created by filmmaker Nancy Meyers, known for writing and directing several successful romance films such as The Parent Trap, Something's Gotta Give, and It's Complicated.

When it was first released, the comedy did not win over critics. Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian gave it a single star, whereas film journalist Stella Papamichael offered a slightly kinder review, giving it two stars for the BBC.

Even though critics were mixed in their reviews, fans have consistently loved The Holiday and still watch it almost two decades after it first came out.

Lately, passionate fans have been sharing their love for the movie online, urging more people to check it out during the holidays. On X, previously known as Twitter, one fan commented: "I watch The Holiday every year, just like so many others. I really enjoy Love Actually, but I believe The Holiday is even better."

On Rotten Tomatoes, one reviewer noted, "Although it sticks closely to the typical Christmas romantic comedy blueprint, Nancy Meyers' The Holiday stands out thanks to its impressive cast, delightful performances, beautiful visuals, holiday cheer, and a message that resonates with everyone."

Another moviegoer commented, "Regardless of what the critics say, this film is a must-watch, uplifting holiday flick. It just gets better with time, much like a fine wine."

Another person chimed in, saying, "This is definitely one of my all-time favorite films!"

During a recent chat on BBC Radio 2's The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Law disclosed a surprising behind-the-scenes detail about the film.

When questioned about whether people can locate the charming cottage from the movie on Airbnb, the 51-year-old responded, "That cottage isn't real."

You can catch The Holiday on Channel 5 today at 5:25 PM.
