Brittany Williams, the former girlfriend of NFL star Josh Allen, has stated that her Instagram account was hacked following a negative comment that was posted from her profile about the quarterback and gained a lot of attention.
After the news broke that 28-year-old Allen was engaged to 27-year-old singer and Pitch Perfect 2 actress Hailee Steinfeld, a comment reportedly from Williams’s account surfaced online, calling Allen a “brain dead CTE athlete.”
Later on Friday, Williams took to her Instagram Story to share an update, saying, "My accounts have been hacked multiple times tonight. I'm working on fixing it. If anyone has any advice, please DM me."
Williams's message followed fans noticing and capturing a screenshot of her supposed reply to a comment on one of her previous posts. In that comment, someone asked: "Have you found the next athlete to turn pro yet???"
“Fortunately, my boyfriend manages a team instead of being a player,” she replied. “I don't have to deal with another athlete suffering from brain injuries.”
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain disease that occurs in individuals who have experienced multiple concussions and other forms of brain trauma, according to research from Indiana University’s School of Medicine. This condition is frequently seen in football players.
The Independent has reached out to a spokesperson for Williams to get a response.
Allen and Williams had been friends since they were kids and were in a relationship for almost ten years before breaking up in early 2023. By May 2023, Williams started dating Steinfeld.
The couple was seen together for the first time in public in October 2023 during the NHL season kickoff in Buffalo.
Last July, they confirmed their relationship on Instagram by sharing a sweet photo of themselves hugging in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
In the October issue of her newsletter, Beau Society, Steinfeld reflected on her relationship and shared a fun holiday story. She reminisced about a time when they both unintentionally ended up giving each other the same Christmas present—a cooking knife.
"After we swapped our knives, he mentioned an old superstition that says if you give someone a knife as a gift, you should pay for it. Otherwise, it symbolizes the end of a relationship," she shared. "To avoid this bad luck, we handed each other a quarter."
Allen has talked before about the challenges of dating while being in the public eye. In an August 2023 episode of the Pardon My Take podcast, he shared a troubling incident involving a photographer who attempted to take pictures of him and his partner from a boat.
"It's a really uncomfortable feeling," Allen confessed, talking about the uncertainty it brought.
