In his social media post published on Saturday, North also referred to his accomplice Vick Hope and expressed his sadness, saying, "I'll miss broadcasting with you each day."

Radio 1 made an announcement on Friday regarding the replacement of North on the drivetime show. It was revealed that Jamie Laing, well-known for his role in Made in Chelsea, would be the one to take over.

North did not explain why he was leaving or disclose his destination.

According to insiders, the Capital FM Breakfast team will welcome his arrival, as reported by the Sun.

BBC News reached out to the management team of North and Global, the owner of Capital FM, for their input.

For a decade, North had been employed at Radio 1 as a highly regarded host.

On Twitter/X, he expressed gratitude towards his coworkers/producers at Radio 1, who he views as not only talented but also personal friends. He acknowledged that he will deeply miss them.

North expressed gratitude towards his "fantastic colleagues who shared the stage with me", mentioning individuals such as Greg James, Scott Mills, Clara Amfo, and Hope.

He said: "Above all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the amazing audience who have been extremely generous and welcoming to me. Your kind words and messages have been truly delightful."

Next month, Jamie Laing is going to take over North on Radio 1's program Going Home.

Since 2021, North has been co-hosting the drivetime show alongside Hope. Prior to this, North had hosted shows on weekends, such as the popular Greatest Hits program on Sundays.

In addition, he is a co-presenter on the well-liked Help I Sexted My Boss audio show along with William Hanson.

Last year, he competed in the reality game show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and came in second place.

Laing and Hope will co-host the Going Home show from Monday to Thursday, starting from 3:30 PM until 6:00 PM.

Starting from March 4th, he's going to become the new presenter, after filling in for Mollie King's maternity leave on the same station. He's thrilled for this opportunity and is calling it a perfect experience.
